...I think.
Good job [Z&C]!
I like this, except I have just a minor complaint about the middle section. The clapping part seems a bit out of place, and doesn't have the same "richness" that the rest of the song has (not saying that it doesn't have richness in of itself, but it just doesn't fit with the theme).
The transition around 2:00 from one lead voice to another was nice, even though it was a bit abrupt (only a measure...lol), but other than that, my last minor grievance would have to be the ending...One tiny cymbal crash? :P
I guess I would have preferred either a larger buildup to some kind of ending climax, or a longer fading off into the distance (which would probably make more sense for techno songs, as they don't work like classical pieces do...)
Anyways, nice job! I enjoyed listening to it (and moving back and forth through the song to find spots. :P)! Make more music! :D

"Close, but didn't quite hit the spot"
Yay! Another sign that Sonny 2 is coming closer to release. :)
I liked the theme used at the beginning of the song, but as it progressed, I didn't get the "deep" and "epic" feeling that I got from Heroic Confrontation, one of you greatest masterpieces (in my opinion).
I can't quite say I know how it should be edited, but maybe change the song so that it gives you more of a feel of a "battlefield"? Part of the song really gave you this imagery, but the other half didn't quite feel like it "fit."
Sorry if this was kind of unhelpful description-wise, but I can hope you can another grand final result like Heroic Confrontation for Sonny 2!

Author's Response:
There is always going to be a special place in my heart for the original Sonny music. Something about the combination of of the game and music really clicked for a lot of people, and it's quite a feat to match it. But I'll walk you through my logic about the music for Sonny 2.
I wanted something a bit different this time around. I wanted music that wasn't quite a stereo-typically "epic", but had a fresher feel to it. That said, I realized there would be many people that would want some music that packed the same kind of punch the original music did. So, I decided to make a new battle piece from the ashes of Duty Calls and Heroic Confrontation (which is not on Newgrounds yet). I feel that this piece is even more epic than the original music for Sonny, so hopefully that will satisfy your thirst for deep epic music!
Thanks for the review!

This song is certainly worthy of being at the top of the Classical section! You've already heard from me before, but this song is just so grand, it never hurts to comment on it again. :)
The beginning of the song feels like the horns of battle are blown, and the snare is an excellent add to feeling. The choir emanates a unique seriousness that you can only find out on the battlefield.
Hearing the drums of war enter at 0:40 signals the beginning of the end. My favorite part of the song is definitely 0:48, where the rough strings enter into the scene. It feels as if the soldiers have appeared on the battlegrounds, and the real fight commences.
The song escalates at 1:07 once the instruments take a higher octave, setting the stage for later changes in the piece. I love this section (from 0:48 - 1:26), because you don't have to focus on the changes of the music, and it gives you time to just listen to the majestic voices of the winds and choir.
Then there's a key signature change at 1:27, and it alters the mood. Although you can still see the same battlefield of soldiers, something new - but unnameable - comes from the slight, sometimes unnoticeable change. A greater feeling of determination, perhaps you could say.
I would have to agree with DevilDog in one aspect though, and that would have to be the abrupt ending. I guess I could see this as a cinematic trailer music, but it would have been nice to having something more resounding than just a quick finish. Other than that, fantastic work. I loved it.
@SamNichol: People can write what they want. I personally encourage stories. It's like a personal interpretation.
Author's Response:
I have to agree with that last part too. I always kind of have a vision in my head as I listen to music. But, whatever. Thanks for the continued listening!

Very nice work again Winter! I got a good laugh out of this song. :]
I love how in almost ever orchestrated song you make, I can somehow relate its style to something I've played in Band or Orchestra or heard before! :D
The fact that it incorporates things I've heard before always keeps me hooked to listen to the rest of the song, and I'm never disappointed!
The part of this song that has a familiar style this time would be in the middle of the song, where the layering becomes as thin as possible, and you have the oboe, flute, and clarinet play their separate notes. This reminded of the fourth movement for Roger Cichy's Divertimento for Winds and Percussion.
Haha, but if you have no idea what I'm talking about, don't worry, just ignore that last part. ;)
Excellent job!
Author's Response:
Haha awesome!
Actually, I HAVE heard of Roger Cichy. But I haven't heard of any of his songs haha. I remember seeing it on the program notes, my school's brass choir played one of his pieces. I guess I should've stuck around and listened.
Thanks buddy

This is quite interesting, MaestroRage...I overlooked this song...I thought I had listened to all your music godliness on Newgrounds :O
It was pretty good, but I guess I'm just not a fan of remakes of classical songs D:
And to 'F-777' (And kind of to you, too, Maestro, don't think you can get away >D), He's a Pirate is actually in 12/8, and counted in 4. This sounds like it's in 3...
Other than that, this was pretty nice to listen to! Nice job on your first remix! :D

Hm...Not a bad job at all for a remix of Dead Man's Chest songs. Not bad at all! I have a few comments though...
I liked the beginning with the rain effect, but I think you should have made that part half the speed of what it currently is at to get the same feeling as "Davy Jones" and him playing his organ. I liked the transition you had from this part to "The Kraken."
The Kraken part was really nice, and I was impressed that you were able to recreate that theme, but I think you should have tried to also add the second part of that song! If you've listened to the actual song, you should know what I'm talking about...I believe it's a bit slower than the other theme, so maybe that's why you didn't add it...
Anyways.
He's a Pirate...I've heard that song so many times that I believe people can only keep getting better with that song. XD Not a bad job overall! =]
Author's Response:
Well, to answer the first two bits, its a mix of three different songs,so i did'nt want to spend that much attention on each one. When i go back and give them remixes of their own (like 'up is down'), i will put in all the bits.
...And about 'hes a pirate'. I plan to do an awesome remix of that later, when my skills are better.

"Nice...Brings back the memories =]"
Actually, this song comes in so many Zelda games...XD
In Oracle of Seasons, it's 'The Windmill,' and I'm sure it was put somewhere in Ocarina of Time too...
But enough of my babbling. The song was awesome! Make more Zelda theme remixes =]

Hm...This is definitely interesting!
I'm a big fan of the Phantom of the Opera, and I was intrigued when I saw this on the first page of techno songs. =P
As for critiquing...
I think that your should either lower the volume of the up and down part of the song or make the melody louder because it's hard to hear it. >.<
I have to agree with Quickshot-x...It is a bit repetitive, and you should try to add a bit more percussion into it.
Other than that, great job! I'll be looking forward to listening to your other songs! =D

Awesome! You got 'A Spectrum Wind' up on NG! =D
I know you have a lot of work with your work, not to mention your album, but I hope you'll still have time to make a few more songs for us die-hard fans! ^.^

This song, combined with Forsaken Neon, is the reason I joined Newgrounds! Your music never ceases to amaze me, even after I've listened to them for hours on end! xD
